The HIEDSS Provider Portal is a web application to allow medical and non-medical providers to electronically submit:
• Flu Specimen Testing Request (currently available to only Sentinel Physicians).
• Communicable Disease Report (available to physicians and non-physicians)
The benefits of the HIEDSS Provider Portal are:
• Provide faster notification to DOH to assist in their outbreak/pandemic surveillance activities;
• Provides an audit trail to the submitter of their submissions to DOH;
• Ensures data privacy to ensure the submitter can only access the information related to their submissions and are not able to access the submission information from other submitters;
• Allows the submitter to electronically review the Influenza laboratory test results as reported by the Hawaii State Laboratories on the Flu Specimen submissions;
• Allows DOH to request feedbacks electronically on the surveys related to specific investigation events; and
• Increases productivity and promotes better coordination between DOH and all its healthcare partners.
